What is the water temperature?

Planning what to wear for your surf? Here’s a guide to water temperatures at URBNSURF across the seasons so you can arrive prepared and comfortable.

Summer (Peak Season: November through to April):

  • Water temperatures can reach the mid-to-high 20s (°C) on hot days
  • Typically warm enough for boardshorts, bikinis, or spring suits

Autumn & Spring (Shoulder Seasons: September, October, April & May):

  • Water temperatures are generally in line with the ocean: mid-teens to high-teens (°C)
  • Most surfers opt for a 2/2 or 3/2 wetsuit depending on preference

Winter (Off-Peak: June to August):

  • Water temperatures are usually low-to-mid teens (°C).
  • Occasionally can dip into high single digits (°C).
  • We recommend a 3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit, and potentially boots, gloves and hoods for colder days.
